K-Bull Guys - Feature Teacher (5/5)
Isaac Holden (Kindergartner) and Mom Krista Holden
I would like to tell you about my son's kindergarten teacher Mrs. Blackorby. She has taught at Fernley Elementary School for the past 8 years. Fernley Elementary school is a Title I school with lots of minorities and they don't get a lot of funding. Mrs. Blackorby treats all the children the same and takes everyone's situation into consideration and lets the parents know that you can talk to her anytime and that her door is always open. She is a wonderful teacher with lots of love and patience for kindergartners. You can tell that she truly loves her job and always has a smile on her face. (Seriously) As you can imagine being a kindergarten teacher isn't easy. She has to teach them the very basic fundamentals from getting along, sharing, tying their shoes, and of course the ABC's. Kindergarten is not what it was back in the day. There are no more nap times and sand boxes. The expectations of a kindergartner are so much more now. She does a great job helping the kids meet those expectations. Mrs. Blackorby does a great job keeping the kids up to speed while having lots of fun in the classroom too. It really does take a special person to be a kindergarten teacher. She also keeps the parents involved as well. My son's teacher always has prior students coming up to her saying "hi," and giving her hugs. The classroom parties for every holiday are fun and my son has a great time going to school because of her. My son had a hard time transitioning into school because I was a stay at home mom with him until he started kindergarten. Mrs. Blackorby has made this transition very easy for my son and me. My son adores her and her silly laugh that he loves to imitate to all of his friends and family. You really have to hear it! My son wants me to tell you that he loves his kindergarten teacher because she is silly, she gives good hugs, and she knows where the nurse's office is. I once heard that teaching kindergarten is like herding cats. Mrs. Blackorby must love cats!
Thanks for reading this and have a blessed day!
