Calling All Rib Lovers!
If you love ribs and BBQ, then be sure to attend America’s BEST rib competition. The 27th annualBest in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off, hosted by JA Nugget, transforms the Labor Day holiday into a must-attend culinary, music, craft, and family end-of-summer affair. Come out to Victorian Square in Sparks, and enjoy ribs from up to 24 of the best cookers from across the world! As always, parking, admission and live entertainment is free.

Event Hours
• Wednesday–Sunday: 11:00am–9:00pm
• Monday: 11:00am–5:00pm
All food booths will be open from 11:00am-9:00pm (Wed-Sun) and from 11:00am-5:00pm on Monday. Food and concessions will be available during event hours only. The Kids’ Area is open every day. Pets and non-service animals are not permitted on Victorian Square, per local regulations.
Rib Village (VIP eating area, tickets required)
• Wednesday-Sunday: 4:00pm – 9:00pm
• Monday: 12:00pm – 5:00pm
The Rib Village is a VIP area within the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off where you can get UNLIMITED ribs and drinks for up to 10 people. Tables will be available for purchase; click herefor more info.
Parking and Event Shuttles
Free parking in the surrounding areas of Victorian Square.
Conveniently park off-site and leave the driving to us! FREE shuttles will be offered from Legends at Sparks Marina (pick-up location between Fudrucker’s and Popeye’s). Shuttle service will be offered on Wed-Sun on the following extended schedule:
• Wednesday-Thursday: 5:00pm – 11:00pm
• Friday: 5:00pm – 1:00am
• Saturday-Sunday: 10:00am – 1:00am
Drop-off location: RTC Centennial Plaza, Victorian Ave at 14th St.
Nugget World Rib Eating Championship
Major League Eating (MLE), the governing body of all stomach-centric sports, will host the 10th annual Nugget World Rib Eating Championship at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, at the Main Stage area. The country’s best competitive eaters will vie for $5,000 and the title of World Champion. It’s estimated the top competitors will consume eight or more pounds of meat during the 12-minute competition.
Entertainment Schedule
As always, the Nugget will welcome many talented musicians to be a big part of the celebration. The free headline concerts will be announced in the summer.
All headline concerts will be at 7:00pm except Monday, which will be at 3:00pm. In all, more than 40 bands will play on multiple stages throughout the six-day Victorian Square event.
