On Sunday (June 14), Shooter Jennings announced the upcoming release of Songbird, a posthumous album by his dad, Waylon Jennings, that is set for release on October 3 via Shooter’s own Son of Jessi label through Thirty Tigers. He also shared the Greg Olliver-directed music video for the lead single and title-track from the project on Father’s Day, which coincides with what would have been Waylon’s 88th birthday. Jennings’ Fleetwood Mac cover is part of a 10-track album that features unheard recordings from the country legend. Four of the living members of Waylon’s Band – Jerry Bridges, Carter Robertson, Barny Robertson and Gordon Payne – were brought in “to do a little work on the songs.” “It hasn’t been an easy road to get here, but it’s been one that has given me a new purpose in life,” Shooter wrote. “I dug through my dad’s old tapes and found a plethora of music by Waylon and the band at the peak of their abilities.” (Holler)
